My Legislative Opinion

Ballot Measures

When voting on many ballot measures be careful of what sound appealing on the surface β€” protecting kids, improving schools, or helping families. However, when you examine the actual text and long-term effects, they often expand government power, undermine taxpayer protections, or fail to deliver promised results. As your representative, I evaluate every measure through the lens of limited government, personal responsibility, and the Colorado Constitution Preamble.

Measure #108 – Children Are Not for Sale Act

I will vote YES. This measure increases penalties for child sex trafficking, including life in prison without parole for those who traffic minors.

Preamble of the Colorado Constitution Alignment Analysis

  • βœ… Establish Justice β€” Strengthens penalties for the most heinous crimes against children.
  • βœ… Insure Tranquillity β€” Protects communities and families from the chaos and predation of trafficking.
  • βœ… Promote the General Welfare β€” Defends the most vulnerable members of society (children).
  • βœ… Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity β€” Protects children’s future from exploitation and preserves moral order for the next generation.
  • βœ… Reverence for the Supreme Ruler of the Universe β€” Upholds the moral law against the evil of selling children.

Measure #109 – Protect Women and Girls’ Sports Act

I will vote YES. This measure ensures school and college sports are divided by biological sex, protecting fairness and safety for female athletes.

Preamble of the Colorado Constitution Alignment Analysis

  • βœ… Establish Justice β€” Ensures fair competition and protects girls from being displaced by biological males.
  • βœ… Insure Tranquillity β€” Maintains safe and orderly single-sex spaces in sports and locker rooms.
  • βœ… Promote the General Welfare β€” Preserves athletic opportunities and scholarships for women and girls.
  • βœ… Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity β€” Protects sex-based rights and opportunities for future generations of girls.

  • βœ… Reverence for the Supreme Ruler of the Universe β€” Recognizes the created order of male and female and protects children from mutilation.

TABOR Revenue Cap Increase for K-12 Education (Legislatively Referred Measure via SB26-135)

I will vote NO. This measure would raise the TABOR spending cap to allow significantly more government spending without corresponding refunds to taxpayers.

Democrats have controlled the legislature and state government for the last 14+ years. Despite this long period of one-party rule, Colorado now faces a systemic budget crisis. Rather than addressing the root causes of overspending and inefficiency, this measure simply raises the taxpayer protection cap to spend even more. The problem is not funding education β€” I support strong schools. The problem is the method: permanently weakening TABOR and growing government instead of pursuing real reforms like school choice, accountability, and fiscal discipline.

Preamble of the Colorado Constitution Alignment Analysis

  • ❌ Form a More Independent and Perfect Government β€” Expands government growth beyond voter-approved limits.
  • ❌ Promote the General Welfare β€” Risks higher taxes and less money in families’ pockets.
  • ❌ Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity β€” Burdens future generations with bigger government.

Legislation I Would Support

Strengthening TABOR

I will vote YES. I support efforts to strengthen the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights to better protect Coloradans from excessive taxation and government spending.

Preamble of the Colorado Constitution Alignment Analysis

  • βœ… Form a More Independent and Perfect Government β€” Limits government power and returns surplus to the people.
  • βœ… Promote the General Welfare β€” Keeps more money in families’ pockets for true prosperity.
  • βœ… Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity β€” Prevents debt and tax burdens from being passed to future generations.

School Choice & Education Freedom

I will vote YES. Parents deserve real choices, including expanded access to charter schools, private schools, homeschooling, and classical education options.

Preamble of the Colorado Constitution Alignment Analysis

  • βœ… Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity β€” Empowers parents as the primary educators of their children.
  • βœ… Promote the General Welfare β€” Improves educational outcomes through competition and parental involvement.
  • βœ… Form a More Independent and Perfect Government β€” Reduces state monopoly control over education.

Legislation I Would Oppose

Decriminalization of Prostitution

I would vote NO.

This past legislative session, Democrats introduced a bill to decriminalize prostitution. Though the bill did not advance, such proposals highlight ongoing debates about the direction of our society.

The predictable effects of such a policy include:

  • Higher taxes to manage increased social costs
  • More drug trafficking and addiction
  • Further destruction of the nuclear family
  • Increased spread of disease
  • Greater financial, mental, and emotional harm
  • More crime in our neighborhoods

In my opinion, this bill was an attempt to test how depraved they have made our education system and the hearts of the people β€” to determine whether they could get something like this passed now or in the future.

As your Representative, I will always vote NO on measures like this. Not only on moral grounds, but because the cause and effect are so destructive to our communities, our families, and our future generations.

Protect your kids. Protect your families. Protect your loved ones. Don’t vote for people who have no moral compass and are actively seeking the destruction of our society, our culture, and our lives.

Preamble of the Colorado Constitution Alignment Analysis

  • ❌ Establish Justice β€” Normalizes exploitation and increases victimization of women and children.
  • ❌ Insure Tranquillity β€” Predictably increases crime, addiction, and neighborhood disorder.
  • ❌ Promote the General Welfare β€” Harms families, spreads disease, and raises long-term social costs.
  • ❌ Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity β€” Undermines the moral and cultural foundation passed to the next generation.
  • ❌ Reverence for the Supreme Ruler of the Universe β€” Rejects the moral order and treats human beings as commodities.

SB26-005 Efforts to Weaken Natural Gas Consumer Choice

I would vote NO.

Proposed measures that would have created barriers or fees on natural gas use would have driven up costs and limited consumer choice. The cause and effect is higher energy bills for families and reduced reliability in heating homes during Colorado winters.

As your Representative, I will always vote NO on measures like this. Coloradans deserve the right to choose affordable and reliable energy sources without government interference.

Preamble of the Colorado Constitution Alignment Analysis

  • ❌ Promote the General Welfare β€” Raises energy costs for families, especially low-income and rural households, and reduces reliability.
  • ❌ Form a More Independent and Perfect Government β€” Expands government control over personal energy choices.
  • ❌ Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity β€” Burdens families and future generations with higher costs and less freedom.

HB26-2345 Policies That Prioritize Government Spending Over Fiscal Responsibility

I would vote NO.

Bills that continue to expand government spending without corresponding revenue controls or cuts lead to larger deficits and higher taxes. The cause and effect is a growing burden on taxpayers, inflation, and less money available for families to afford housing, healthcare, and daily living expenses.

As your Representative, I will always vote NO on measures like this. Government must live within its means, just like Colorado families do every day.

Preamble of the Colorado Constitution Alignment Analysis

  • ❌ Form a More Independent and Perfect Government β€” Violates limited government principles and fiscal restraint.
  • ❌ Promote the General Welfare β€” Creates inflation and debt that harm families’ real prosperity.
  • ❌ Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity β€” Passes unsustainable debt and tax burdens to future generations.

HB26-1001 Housing Developments on Qualifying Properties

I would vote NO.

This bill requires local governments to allow residential development on certain qualifying properties with an administrative approval process, overriding local zoning in many cases. The cause and effect is reduced local control, potential for unwanted density, and higher pressure on infrastructure without proper community input.

As your Representative, I will always vote NO on measures like this. Land use decisions should remain with local communities, not mandated from the state capitol.

Preamble of the Colorado Constitution Alignment Analysis

  • ❌ Form a More Independent and Perfect Government β€” Undermines local control and federalism principles.
  • ❌ Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity β€” Removes communities’ right to shape their own neighborhoods and future.
